August 2006 was a month with thirty-one days, like all Augusts, that began on a Tuesday. On August 10, an  alleged plot to detonate ten airliners over the Atlantic Ocean was revealed to the general public as London Metropolitan Police arrested alleged conspirators. The month-long conflict between Israel and Hezbollah came to a halt after a ceasefire endorsed by the United Nations Security Council went into effect on August 14. The Fields Medal was awarded for the first time since 2002 and the International Astronomical Union redefined the term 'planet', resulting in Pluto losing its planetary status.

FEAR FACTOR

We met Ms. S at the SSB one night. She has 3 kids, but lost her husband a year ago. She was in Saigon for a week, visiting her brother-in-law, for a much needed vacation. She says it’s nice that she got to experience a lot of things in Saigon but, at the end of the day, it all seemed pointless since she had no one to share it with. True, she has her 3 kids, but what she meant was someone special to share things with… a partner in life. Someone you can rant & rave to, laugh with, run in the rain with, eat weird food with… Someone you can hug in bed at night while exchanging stories of your experiences together. Because no matter how fun your day was, it will not end right if you are to come home to an empty bed.

Ms. S told us that it was refreshing to meet young ladies who had their heads on straight. She said it was great that we were happy with our careers and had goals to fulfill. But she also told us that there was no greater feeling than to love and be loved. I agree with her. She said that if, in this journey of ours, we find someone who will love us & whom we can love back, then we should grab the opportunity and not let go of that person. There is, of course, a possibility of getting hurt. But so what if that happens? Heartache heals. And then you move on. But the important thing is to have someone to share your life with. At this point, I have stopped agreeing with her. I have been hurt, and I don’t want to go through that pain again.

For those of you who have been religiously following my (former) BLOG, you already know why I have been trying to avoid love for the longest time. FEAR is the factor. But really, it would be utterly wonderful to have that special someone. In the last 15 months that I have been in Saigon, I have met many men from different countries, religion, and race. Men of different occupation, ambition, and opinion. Some have shown deep sincerity, while some have shown how sincerely they would like to bed me. As much as possible, I have avoided having anything to do with these men. So much so that they are now calling me “The Virgin Mary” (sure, go ahead and laugh). You see, the question is… With all these men around, how do you know who Mr. Right is (if there is such a man)?

WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE

This is my second BLOG. My first one is lost somewhere in cyberspace, since my former BLOG host suddenly shut down. I feel like i lost a lot of memories when that happened, so I decided to just put my BLOG directly into my website. Hehe. To those of you who used to regularly visit my old BLOG site... I'm back!! Wehehehe.... Do make use of my Guest Book by saying "hi!" or by posting your views and opinions. Mine are usually twisted anyway, so feel free to set me straight (expect a debate if and when i disagree with you, though. Hehe). And to everyone else out there, welcome to my world!
