'TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY

I am in such a good mood! My day off went quite well. Kuya Romy cooked Lechon Kawali for lunch (yum!), and for merienda, I had donuts, coffee, and a super delicious strawberry shake with Steve, Kuya Noel, Ate Nina, & Ching, at the new "American Donuts" cafe (yes, we finally have donuts in Saigon! Can't wait for Subway, McDonald's, and Aunt Mary's Aunt to pop up here! Gloria Jean's will be opening sometime this month). After merienda, Ching and I went Christmas shopping (ouch!), after which we had a pizza-and-fries dinner with Gary (we saw Ate Nina & Kuya Noel there too).

Inspired by all the Christmas lights in town, we bought some Christmas decor for our rooms on our way home (we saw Ate Nina & Kuya Noel again while doing so!).

I spent the rest of my evening decorating my room, chatting with family & friends, watching Star World comedies, e-mailing, surfing the net, eating some more, and SMS-flirting (it's great being single! Haha!).

What a nice day it has been. And so now I'm all geared up to go back to work again tomorrow. It's weird how this season just puts you in such a good mood! Haha!

ALL ABOARD!

Last monday, Carlo treated me to a very nice dinner onboard a ship! Three floors of food, drinks, and entertainment, the ship goes down the river and back for about an hour. Awesome!!

We had steamed prawns, beef stuffed with cheese, fries, beer, and margaritas. Such fun! I can't believe it took me a year and a half before I even had this floating dining experience. It was a beautiful night, indeed!

We made some videos onboard the ship, and I will share them with you guys as soon as I figure out how to edit them. Hehe....

I LOVE BEYONCE, UH, SASHA, UH, BEYONCE...?

I love Beyonce. She has inspired me in so many ways when it comes to being a good singer & performer. I study the way she sings and the way she moves onstage. She's simply a fabulous entertainer! But this is kinda freaky...

The 25-year-old singer-actress Beyonce Knowles tells Parade magazine in its Dec. 17 issue that she becomes someone else when she's onstage, an alter ego she's even given a name to: Sasha.

"I wouldn't like Sasha if I met her offstage. Oh, no. She's too aggressive, too strong, too sassy, too sexy! I'm not her in real life at all. I'm not flirtatious and super-confident and fearless like her."

"I created my stage persona to protect myself," she says, "so that when I go home, I don't have to think about what it is I do. Sasha isn't me. The people around me know who I really am."

Hmmm.... I have an onstage personality too, and that allows me to do things onstage that I wouldn't dare do offstage. But that's still a part of who I am, and so she's still me, still Jenny. Oh well, whatever. To each his own, I guess.

EVERYBODY LOVES FRANK

The world of comedy just suffered a great loss.

Peter Boyle, more popularly known as Frank Barone thru the television sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond", has passed away at the ripe old age of 71, due to multiple myeloma and heart disease.

You may know him as Frankenstein's monster in the 1974 movie "Young Frankenstein". He met the love of his life on the set of this flick, where she visited as a reporter for Rolling Stone. He asked her out while still wearing his monster attire. Haha! I guess it worked, since they ended up married with two kids.

As Raymond's dad in the popular series though, he rarely speaks. But when he does, I always end up laughing, and I mean laughing out loud!! His lines will directly hit your funnybone. This man has given me a thousand laughs, and I'm sure a lot of people will miss him as much as I will.

Thank you, Mr. Boyle. Wherever you are right now, I hope you are happy, as you have made us happy here on earth. God bless you.

ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE

Last night, I saw a documentary on the 9-11 attack, and was touched by this particular story. It was of a man who worked on the exact floor that one of the airplanes hit. He was in his office that fateful morning. When he turned around, he was face to face with an airplane! It was headed right for him! Being one of the bosses, this man was always very good at decision-making. But at a time like that, what in the world do you do?!?!?

In the documentary, he said that, for some unknown reason, he just yelled, "God, take charge, please!".

After the crash, he ended up in a fetal position... Alive! Looking up, he saw part of the plane's wing right in his office. The rest of the plane was nowhere in sight. Remember, the plane was headed right towards him. It crashed right through his office. And he survived?!?

Wow... When God takes charge, he REALLY takes charge, doesn't He? I leave you now with this very fitting Bible passage: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)

AN AFTERNOON AT THE HIGHLANDS CAFE

A few weeks ago, Ching & I wanted a quiet day away from the Caravelle Hotel, but near good food and drinks, and so we spent one whole afternoon (and evening, actually) at the Highlands Coffee. This place is to Vietnam as what Starbucks is to the rest of the world, except it has wireless internet, which makes it even better. Hehe.

And so we sat there the whole day, surfing the web, laughing at people. eating french fries, bread, and seafood pasta; Drinking coffee, and sipping white wine (Vietnam has fabulous local wine, by the way). We even saw Ate Nina and Kuya Noel there. They dropped by to have some pasta for dinner. We were thinking of having some dessert, but changed our minds, since sitting there the whole day + dessert = avoiding food for at least two days.

It was a really nice quiet rest-day for us. TGIM!

FOOD TRIPPIN' AT THE CARAVELLE

Almost every monday, my bandmates and I go to the Nineteen Restaurant for the Caravelle Hotel buffet. The food is simply delicious! A hodgepodge of viands, which of course include fish, beef, seafood, etc., plus a fiesta of salad, cold cuts, pasta, cheese, bread,  oyster, lobster, shrimp, sushi, sashimi, suckling pig, steak, soup, ice cream, flan, cake, fruits, mallows, nuts, a chocolate fountain, and overflowing wine. I love to eat, so this is heaven, indeed!!

My routine, usually, is to get different kinds of cheese & bread, a little bit of seafood & macaroni salad, rice & some lobster, shrimp, crabs, baked oyster with cheese, and steak with black pepper sauce, some sushi and a whole lot of salmon sashimi (which just melts in your mouth!) dipped in soy sauce with super hot wasabi, and a dessert platter of leche flan, watermelon, strawberries with whipped cream, M&Ms, and chocolate-covered mallows. White wine is my preferred drink throughout this whole meal. In between plates, I smoke a cigarette or two (this serves as my rest-period), and I sip a cup of coffee at the end of the gluttonous meal.

Aaahhhhhhhh... truly heaven! A well-deserved heavy & luxurious meal after a week of hard work! Now that's life.

DRINK YOUR MILK!

If you don't drink your milk after seeing this, then I wish you luck! Hehehe.

ANGEL EN LA TIERRA

With all these celebrities getting into brawls, dying of anorexia, cat-fighting, backbiting, showing off their bling-bling, baring their private parts to the world, partying day after day after night after night, it's good to know that there are still some celebs out there who are putting their fame and fortune to good use.

Ricky Martin makes us all proud with what he has done as the Goodwill Ambassador to UNICEF. He is continually spreading love all over the world by helping out our less fortunate brothers and sisters thru the Ricky Martin Foundation. One exceptional project of his is called People for Children, which focuses on ridding the world of those who engage in sexual exploitation and trafficking of children.

Handsome, well-built, talented, smart, and with a kind heart... He is truly blessed. Thanks for sharing your blessings with others! May we have more celebrities like you in this world.
